Annapolis, MD (March 8, 2018) -- Today, Democratic gubernatorial team Rich Madaleno & Luwanda Jenkins received the endorsement of the Baltimore Washington Laborers’ District Council, an affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LiUNA), which represents more than 3,000 members in Maryland.
“Rich Madaleno’s record of delivering strong, progressive policies for Maryland’s working families is unparalleled. From passing earned sick leave to fighting for a $15 minimum wage, Senator Madaleno has had the backs of working Marylanders, and will continue to be our champion as Maryland’s next governor,” said David Allison, Business Manager of the Baltimore Washington Laborers’ District Council (BWLDC).
“A Madaleno/Jenkins Administration will give the people of Maryland a team of leaders who will champion policies that benefit working people, and build an economy that works for all Marylanders,” continued Allison.
“We are honored to receive the endorsement of the hard-working men and women who make up the BWLDC,” said Rich Madaleno. “I am committed to collective bargaining—it’s the time-proven way for workers to achieve better wages, benefits, and working conditions. Through union apprenticeship programs, like those affiliated with LiUNA, scores of Marylanders have a pathway to construction careers with family-supporting wages and benefits,” continued Madaleno.
Luwanda Jenkins added, “We are the Democrats who get results, who can beat Larry Hogan, and will be the effective progressives we need leading our state.”
The Madaleno/Jenkins campaign is continuing to build momentum, having just won 3 straw polls and earning the endorsement of Congressman Jamie Raskin and 27 other state and local leaders last week.
